The In Crowd

Celebrating the release of their second album The In Crowd, Kidz In The Hall rocked SOB's. Also in attendance, opening the show with DJ sets, were Just Blaze & DJ Timbuk2.

Embodying the “In Crowd” theme, Kidz brought onstage a slew of special guests, all of whom featured on the record, including Phonte from Little Brother, Travis from Gym Class Heroes, Skyzoo, Mickey Factz, and UK songstress Estelle.

Currently #3 at MTV2 and top 10 at TRL, check out the video for "Drivin' Down The Block"

Million DJ March

DJ Green Lantern & A. Shaw have teamed up to head the Million DJ March this summer in Washington, DC

To be held August 28-30, the 3 day event calls on DJs, artists & community members to rally in the Nation's capitol to highlight issues affecting DJs, among which include union organization, compensation & recognition for their contributions to the music industry.

Shaw states "DJ's do not get fully recognized for the work they do...Label and major businesses who reap the rewards of default publicity need to pay attention and give more recognition and financial compensation to DJs for the promotion they provide, without which music sales would surely suffer."

"[DJs are] often harassed and legally penalized for their promotional efforts even when those efforts have been solicited directly by the labels and artists themselves: an arrangement that is known about throughout the industry but kept 'on the low,"

"I am calling upon the industry to show support for an event to unify deejays and help create future economic safety for those that have chosen this art form as a career,"

Quantum Leap - 1983

Two legends in the studio...
Herbie Hancock, who's recent release River: The Joni Letters won the 2008 Grammy Album of the Year award. A historical landmark with it being the second time a jazz album has received this award since Stan Getz's Getz/Gilberto, 43 years ago.

Quincy Jones, the incomparable Academy Award & Grammy winning music composer, record producer, and musician whose careers spans over five decades. One of my favorite albums from Quincy was The Original Jam Session 1969 a funk & soul filled collabortive effort with Bill Cosby.
